King Bacon was super jelly of my stand up desk (the Vivo V120EW), to the point that he decided he wanted one. He wanted to take advantage of the crazy great ergonomic benefits that stand up desks offer and went for a V133E Vivo Corner Stand Up Desk. I’m not planning on waxing on about those here, but if you want to read about some of the benefits of alternating sitting and standing while working, Healthline has a good overview.
Deciding on Vivo
My Vivo stand up desk hasn’t had a problem, is very quiet when lifting and lowering, and is sturdy when fully raised. For my review on that model, along with a video overview that shows the sound, check out the review here. (King Bacon’s desk sounds exactly the same as mine in this video.)
King Bacon wanted the same features, as well as a lot of desk space since he doesn’t have any storage units like I do. He decided that a corner stand up desk would be his best option to maximize the desk space for his personal computer and work laptop. After comparing a bunch of different options, he was impressed enough by my Vivo stand up desk that he decided that was the one he wanted over the other brands he looked at. It was also far more affordable.
(On a separate note, since at this point I feel like I’ve talked about Vivo a lot: we are definitely not sponsored by Vivo. Our site has zero sponsors. But, hey, Vivo, feel free to hit me up. Big fan.)
King Bacon’s frame didn’t come with the smaller corner leg pictured in the listing on Amazon, but a fuller and longer leg that matches the two outer ones that came with the older version of the desk frame. Vivo sent him the footer replacement when he asked about it at no cost, which was cool of them. In the end, he opted to leave the older leg as he felt it added to the stability.
Vivo Corner Stand Up Desk vs Two Legged Desk
The Vivo V133E supports more weight than the two-legged version by a long shot with the added stability and extra frame. There are a few differences other than the structure between this model and the one I use:
- My version of the desk supports 220 lbs, whereas the corner version can hold an additional 100 lbs for a whopping 330 lbs of support.
- This version also comes with an additional cable management rack. Granted, it doesn’t hold a lot, but if you need to know how to do additional cable management, I did a separate post on cable management for stand up desks.
- It only remembers three (3) pre-set heights with its memory setting; mine remembers four (4).
- Three motors instead of two – this makes sense when you think about it. I only have two legs on my desk – hence two motors. King Bacon’s holds an additional hundred pounds and thus needs an additional motor for the third leg and extra weight.
- Timer settings – I thought mine had this feature, but it turns out it does not. King Bacon’s timer setting automatically lifts and lowers the desk as a consistent reminder to keep things on track. I do actually wish that I had this feature on mine since I frequently forget. My doctor told me that the optimal usage for a stand up desk is one (1) hour standing and one (1) hour sitting.
Desk Tops
The three legged version of a stand up desk is not as popular as the two leg version, so it was naturally a little bit more expensive. As a hobbyist wood worker, King Bacon opted to make his own desk top for this one versus buying a desk top. If you’d rather just purchase pre-made desk tops for the corner desk, you can. Vivo actually has a few options. You could also always get a bit of laminate counter or off-cuts from a local store or online, though those might be more expensive.

Costs and Final Thoughts
King Bacon spent about $550 on his desk frame and about $80 more on wood from Home Depot to build his own desk top for a grand total of around $630. To compare, a pre-built three-legged corner stand up desk, like the Uplift, starts at $1,335. (Holy crap.) If you’re hunting for a good corner stand up desk, the Vivo V133E is a great choice. It’s quiet, rock solid, and you really can’t go wrong if this type of desk is what you’re looking for.
